Saturday was the March equinox, the beginning of astronomical spring in the Northern Hemisphere. The sun was directly above the equator. Now the arc of the sun will start to shift towards the north and and this change of daylight affects the flora and fauna – spring is here and summer is closer!
Cherry trees are not blossoming quite as eagerly yet as the picture shows; the photo is from Dumfries, Scotland two years ago. I expect to see some cherry blossoms soon though.
